Noted project management authority Celia Desmond

Celia Desmond provides management and telecommunications training to leading corporations, is president of her own firm, World Class-Telecommunications. She is also a senior consultant for Procept Associates Ltd. An internationally recognized expert in project management and communications, earlier she was at Stentor Resource Centre Inc. where she held a number of key project management and other leadership positions. At Bell Canada, she held several senior posts, including associate director, Advanced Services Planning. Desmond helped create a new Masters of Engineering in Telecommunications for the University of Toronto and she has taught at Ryerson School of Business. A Senior Member of IEEE, she is president of IEEE Canada, president-elect of IEEE Communications Society, and a member of IEEE’s worldwide Board of Directors. Desmond, who has organized a number of successful international conferences, including ICC '97 in Montreal, ICUPC '93 in Ottawa, and Infocom '87 and CSECE '92 in Toronto, has been given three distinguished awards--Donald J. McLellan Award for meritorious service to the IEEE Communications Society, the Engineering Institute of Canada John B. Sterling Medal, and the IEEE Millenium Award. Desmond holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University and a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Psychology from Queens University. A Project Management Professional, certified by the Project Management Institute, she also holds a certificate as a certified teacher from Ontario Teachers College.
