Henry Du , Thin Films and Photonic Materials Expert

Henry Du is a Professor of Materials Engineering in the Department of Chemical, Biomedical, and Materials Engineering. He teaches at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and is a co-founder of the interdisciplinary Microelectronics and Photonics Program. Du's primary research interests are synthesis and processing of electronic and photonic materials, gas-solid and solid-solid interactions, and functionalized periodic structures and surfaces by design. Sources of his past and current research funding include federal (NSF, Air Force and Army) and State (NJCST) agencies as well as industrial organizations (Bell Labs, Honeywell, and United Technologies). He has published more than fifty articles and holds two US patents with the third one pending. He is active in serving the federal funding agencies as grant proposal reviewer and professional societies as peer reviewer and associate editor. Du received his B.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from South China University of Technology, China in 1982 and his Ph.D. degree in Ceramic Science from The Pennsylvania State University in 1988.
