History

Stevens Institute of Technology opened its doors in 1870 as first engineering university in the United States. The school prides itself on both its rich past and its future-focussed mission of educating leaders who possess the skills and insight needed to renew American innovation, competitive spirit, and productivity. When Stevens created the WebCampus Division in 2000, it opened up new opportunities for students not only in areas that the college traditionally served, but for others around the country and around the world. With a backbone of top-quality academic programs and a tremendous commitment in the development and use of best practices in online learning, WebCampus gives students a chance that they may never have had otherwise to achieve their maximum potential.

Students from 40 states and 40 countries have taken Stevens classes through WebCampus. Significantly, the list of awards and honors that Stevens had won through WebCampus operations has given the school an enviable reputation as a leader in online education. Representatives from other colleges both near and far have visited Stevens to see for themselves how the school has mastered the art and science of offering quality graduate education through the Internet.

I really enjoyed my courses. I can’t believe how much I learned. I went from zero knowledge to really understanding what goes on inside that box."
