Types of multimedia information: voice, data video facsimile, graphics, and their characterization; modeling techniques to represent multimedia information; analysis and comparative performances of different models; detection techniques for multimedia signals; specification of multimedia representation based on service requirements; and evaluation of different multimedia representations to satisfy user applications and for generating test scenarios for standardization.
