Principles of Applied Telecommunications Technology (TM601)

Covers required technical concepts in applied telecommunications as well as an overview of the industry as a regulated and competitive environment. The main issues of telecommunications systems and network transmission, signaling, and switching are treated. Attention is given to analog and digital communications, telephony, data communications, signal types, modulation, multiplexing, network design concepts, relevant standards, and ISDN. Topics are presented with attention to the functional interrelationship of various sectors of the industry, business, and government regulatory bodies--all of which are effected by the technology.
