Ron Perkinson serves as President of the Putera Sampoerna Foundation based in Jarkarta, Indonesia - one of the largest education foundations in Southeast Asia, assisting socially and economically disadvantaged families across Indonesia. The Foundation is also engaged in a variety of projects to improve the standards and quality at all levels of education across Indonesia. Over the last five years, the Foundation has also provided over 30,000 scholarships to worthy students to gain access to study both in Indonesia as well as internationally. The Foundation today finances large numbers of students in their international studies especially in North American, UK and Australian universities. Perkinson was Senior Vice President, Education Development at Whitney International University System. Prior to this, he was Principal Education Specialist at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group. He is a New Zealander who has held chairman and senior executive positions in the education sector and in multinational service companies in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and the United States. At IFC he helped establish the Global Health & Education Group, focusing on private for-profit and not-for-profit education projects in developing economies. He also provided technical advice and assistance for both public and private sector education initiatives in higher education, K-12 schools, and information and communications technologies projects. Before joining IFC, Perkinson was Chief Executive of Multi Serve Education Trust in New Zealand, the privatised result of New Zealand’s education services, following its sweeping reforms in the late 1980’s. Perkinson also served on a variety of government working parties and committees in New Zealand to oversee and advise on education reforms.
