Ocean engineering expert Thomas Herrington

Thomas Herrington, an acting New Jersey Sea Grant Coastal Processes specialist, and assistant director of New Jersey Coastal Protection Technical Assistance Service, specializes in time series analysis of geophysical fluid measurements, and performs coastal ocean research. He has designed and constructed numerous subsurface and above water coastal zone instrumentation platforms. At Stevens, he teaches courses in meteorology, hydrodynamics, ocean instrumentation, and coastal measurement. Herrington serves on the ASCE Flood Loads Task Committee. Earlier, he was on the board of the Northeast Shore and Beach Preservation Association. He is the author or co-author of more than 40 publications on coastal and ocean engineering. Herrington’s B.E. in Civil Engineering and his M.E. and Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering are from Stevens.
